Edition I · v0.1Updated weekly

The arithmetic of caring about a product.

A Care Loop score is not a vibe. It is a weighted, citation-first composite across four dimensions, published with its sources, its confidence tier, and the unknowns it could not resolve.

§ 01: The four dimensions

Four lenses. One number you can defend in a room.

Click any dimension below to expose its underlying signals, weights and source registries. Weights are tuned per category, these are the consumer-goods defaults.

§ 02: The confidence ladder

We ship the doubt with the answer.

Drag the dial to see how data coverage maps onto a confidence tier. A score with thin coverage is not a worse score. It is a more honest one.

Data coverage72%
03Medium

Partial disclosure with limited inference.

  1. 01
    Verified

    Primary sources, third-party certified, lab-tested.

  2. 02
    High

Multiple credible sources cross-referenced and dated.

  3. 03
    Medium

    Partial disclosure with limited inference.

  4. 04
    Estimated

Category model, brand-level proxies, labelled as such.

  5. 05
    Insufficient

Too many unknowns, we say so, plainly.

§ 03: The pipeline

From registry to score, in five honest steps.

  1. 01
    Ingest

Pull from registries, EPDs, court filings, certification ledgers and brand disclosures.

  2. 02
    Normalise

Map every signal to a canonical schema with units, dates and source weight.

  3. 03
    Score

Apply the dimension model. Compute confidence from coverage and source quality.

  4. 04
    Annotate

Surface unknowns explicitly. Attach the citation trail to every datum.

  5. 05
    Publish

Version the score. Open it for right-of-reply. Recompute on new evidence.

§ 04: Principles

The five rules we will not bend.

These are the editorial commitments that sit above the algorithm. If a brand asks us to break one, we publish the request alongside our refusal.

01

Citations or it didn't happen

Every signal points to a public, reviewable source. No claim is anonymous.

02

Unknowns are first-class

Missing data is shown, not hidden behind an averaged number.

03

Marketing claims have weight zero

Brand copy never moves a score. Only verifiable inputs do.

04

Versioned & dated

Every score carries a methodology version and the date of last refresh.

05

Open right of reply

Brands can submit primary documents that update the source ledger publicly.

§ 05: Sources & governance

Every score is a footnote you can follow.

Each datum points to a public, dated, reviewable source. Where a source is paywalled, we cite the registry and a method note. The full source ledger is browsable per product.

§ 06: Honest small print

Are weights universal?

No. Defaults shown here are for consumer goods. Per-category overrides are documented in the methodology repo and versioned alongside the score.

What if you're wrong?

We publish a correction with a diff against the prior score, the new evidence, and the source it came from. Versioned, dated, and visible.

Do you take brand money?

No paid placements. No ranking influence. Brand subscriptions only buy access to their own dashboard, never the score.

Why ‘care’ and not ‘sustainability’?

Sustainability is a marketing word. Care is a verb you can audit, across health, planet, ethics and longevity.
